The Birthday Book: Letters to Epstein from the Shadows of Power
Clinton, Trump Tied to Epstein Through Controversial Birthday Letters, Journal Reports
New details have emerged connecting both former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as newly reported documents suggest the two men sent Epstein personal birthday messages in 2003, when he turned 50.
According to a report published Thursday by The Wall Street Journal, Clinton’s handwritten birthday note was among several gathered by Epstein’s longtime associate and former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell. The letters were reportedly compiled into a leather-bound album and gifted to Epstein during a private celebration marking his milestone birthday.
Clinton’s note, said to be in his recognizable handwriting, reportedly reflected on the longevity of their acquaintance and included references to friendship, curiosity, and shared experiences.
“It’s reassuring isn’t it, to have lasted as long, across all the years of learning and knowing, adventures and [illegible word], and also to have your childlike curiosity, the drive to make a difference and the solace of friends,” the letter allegedly read, according to the Journal.
The letter’s content does not contain any illegal or inappropriate material, but its existence once again brings renewed scrutiny to Clinton’s past association with Epstein—a figure who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking of minors.
Clinton’s Ties to Epstein
Bill Clinton’s name has been linked to Epstein for years, primarily through flight logs that documented multiple trips on Epstein’s private jet. Reports indicate Clinton flew aboard the jet on four separate occasions between 2002 and 2003, with stops in Europe, Asia, and Africa. A spokesperson for Clinton previously stated that all travel was conducted in support of Clinton Foundation work and emphasized that the former president was unaware of Epstein’s criminal conduct.
“In 2002 and 2003, President Clinton took a total of four trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s airplane: one to Europe, one to Asia, and two to Africa, which included stops in connection with the work of the Clinton Foundation,” spokesman Angel Urena said in a 2019 statement.
Despite the former president’s repeated denials of wrongdoing, allegations from Epstein accusers continue to place Clinton within Epstein’s social sphere during the early 2000s.
One alleged victim, Johanna Sjoberg, testified in a 2016 deposition that Epstein once remarked, “Clinton likes them young,” referring to underage girls. However, Sjoberg did not implicate Clinton in any specific illegal activity.
On Thursday, Clinton’s team declined to comment on the newly surfaced birthday message, instead referencing past statements that maintain he cut off all contact with Epstein more than a decade before Epstein’s 2019 arrest.
Trump Also Linked Through Alleged Birthday Note
The Journal also reported that a separate and far more controversial birthday message to Epstein came from Donald Trump. According to the article, Trump’s note was included in the same birthday album and featured typewritten text bordered by the outline of a nude female figure. Trump’s signature was reportedly placed beneath the figure’s waistline in a way that was described as sexually suggestive.
“Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret,” the note allegedly read.
Trump has categorically denied writing the letter, stating he “never includes drawings or borders in letters” and claiming the document was fabricated. In response, Trump has filed a massive defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and its owner, Rupert Murdoch, demanding billions in damages for what he calls a “disgusting smear campaign.”
Epstein Investigation Still Stirring Political Debate
These revelations come amid ongoing public frustration over the federal government’s handling of the Epstein investigation. Earlier this month, the Department of Justice released a brief memo reaffirming that Epstein’s 2019 death in a Manhattan jail cell was officially ruled a suicide. The two-page document reignited debate within right-wing circles, especially among Trump supporters who have long claimed Epstein was murdered to protect powerful elites.
Adding fuel to the controversy, Trump recently directed former Attorney General Pam Bondi to push for the release of grand jury records related to the Epstein case. Trump has accused unnamed officials of suppressing key evidence and called for full transparency.
However, on Wednesday, a federal judge in Florida denied a request to unseal those grand jury materials, citing legal protections surrounding confidential testimony. The Trump administration is reportedly still pursuing access to additional records through other legal avenues.
The Legacy of a Scandal
With both Clinton and Trump now facing fresh scrutiny over past connections to Epstein, the scandal continues to cast a shadow over some of the most powerful figures in American politics. While no direct involvement in Epstein’s criminal activities has been proven in either case, the persistent emergence of personal ties—whether through flight logs, photographs, or now handwritten notes—continues to blur the lines between association and accountability.
As federal authorities press forward with related investigations and civil suits, the contents of Epstein’s private correspondence may yet provide more revelations from a chapter of American history that refuses to close.
