Concerns about Donald Trump’s health increase after second bruise seen on his hand

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump’s health has once again become a topic of online discussion after a new image showing his hand circulated on social media.

Earlier this year, photos from a meeting between Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron raised eyebrows. In the pictures, people noticed a dark mark on the back of Trump’s right hand, sparking widespread speculation.

After the press conference, the image quickly caught the attention of social media users. Many commented on the apparent bruise, with one person saying, “Scrolling Getty and couldn’t help but notice this photo of a huge bruise on Trump’s hand today.” Another user pointed out, “Some photos over the last few months show bruising on Trump’s hand… Always seems to be on the same hand.” A third person asked, “Trump has a massive bruise on the back of his right hand. How did he get that?” Some even speculated that Trump may have attempted to cover the mark with makeup, referencing a Getty Images description that mentioned the area being “covered in make-up.”

At the time, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissed these concerns, explaining that the bruising was a result of Trump’s busy schedule and frequent public engagements. “President Trump is a man of the people and meets more Americans and shakes more hands on a daily basis than any other president in history,” Leavitt said in a statement, according to NBC. She later reiterated this, stating, “President Trump has bruises on his hand because he’s constantly working and shaking hands all day, every day.”

This week, the issue resurfaced when Trump was photographed again during a meeting with Irish leader Micheál Martin. The same mark was visible, sparking fresh speculation online.

Experts have offered possible explanations for the bruising. Dr. Anatalia Moore, a skin specialist, suggested that the bruising could be related to age. “For many patients in their 70s—especially those who are not what we call a ‘fit 70’—even a small bump against a doorframe can cause significant bruising,” Dr. Moore explained. “Our hands and limbs are particularly vulnerable to knocks, especially as balance and coordination decline with age.”

Dr. Moore further elaborated on how bruising occurs, noting that the initial dark purple or red discoloration is due to blood pooling under the skin. As the body repairs the injured area, the color of the bruise shifts to green and yellow, a process that can take longer in older individuals due to slower healing.

The renewed attention surrounding Trump’s bruise has raised questions about his health, with some suggesting that the mark could be a sign of an underlying condition. However, experts suggest that the bruising is likely a normal consequence of aging and everyday activities. Despite the online chatter, there has been no official comment from the White House regarding any health concerns.
