Echoes of the Capitol: Secrets, Vows, and the Unfinished Battle
Bannon and Greene Promise Political Reckoning for Liz Cheney, Defend January 6 Defendants
In a charged post-election broadcast, political commentator Steve Bannon and Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) vowed political retribution against former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, a key figure in the January 6 Committee, while celebrating Donald Trump’s return to the political spotlight.
The discussion unfolded Tuesday evening during an episode of Bannon’s popular podcast, where he and Greene enthusiastically responded to what they called a “historic night” following Trump’s latest election victory. The tone was celebratory—but also laced with promises of investigation, upheaval, and political payback.
“Congresswoman Greene, you’ve been a fighter since day one,” Bannon began, referencing her unwavering support for Trump. “What does this moment mean for the movement?”
“It’s incredible, Steve,” Greene responded. “We’re here at Mar-a-Lago and the energy is electric. Everyone’s celebrating because we knew this would happen. The American people were never going to stand by while their freedoms were destroyed by a radical, weaponized government.”
Greene blasted what she called “the communist regime” in Washington, criticizing open-border policies, gender-related education, abortion rights, and international military spending. “This is a victory for common sense,” she declared. “And President Trump is headed back to the White House.”
The two then shifted focus to Georgia, a pivotal battleground state in recent elections. Bannon praised Greene for staying in-state to support Trump’s campaign efforts, calling her decision “key to the blowout.”
“Georgia delivered,” Greene said proudly. “I stayed home and helped lead the charge. We made sure every Republican showed up, and we had poll watchers keeping eyes on every step. That’s how you secure elections. The Democrats can’t steal what we’re watching closely.”
Bannon then pivoted to a hot topic circulating in conservative circles—rumors that Greene could be tapped to lead the Department of Homeland Security under a future Trump administration.
“I’ve heard the rumors,” Greene responded cautiously. “But right now, we’re focused on restoring the rule of law, ending the weaponization of our government, and most importantly—pardoning the J6 prisoners. That’s going to happen. The American people want it, and we’re going to deliver.”
Greene and Bannon then turned their fire on Liz Cheney, who served as co-chair of the House Select Committee that investigated the January 6 Capitol riot. Both accused Cheney and other committee members, including former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Bennie Thompson, of abusing their power.
“What Liz Cheney and that committee did to Americans was shameful,” Greene said. “It wasn’t just about targeting President Trump. It was about crushing the voices of everyday people—people who exercised their First Amendment rights and are now rotting in jail.”
Bannon agreed, stating, “The people rejected the J6 narrative tonight. The truth is coming out. And with Trump back in the White House, it’s time for accountability. Not just for the people who were targeted—but also for those who did the targeting.”
Greene specifically called out U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Matthew Graves, accusing him of leading politically motivated prosecutions.
“Let’s be clear: Matthew Graves is going to be fired,” she said. “He’s one of the worst examples of government abuse. He went after peaceful Americans while letting Antifa and BLM rioters off the hook. That’s not justice.”
Throughout the conversation, both Greene and Bannon emphasized the need to “dismantle the deep state” and end what they describe as the partisan use of federal agencies to persecute political opponents.
“Everything changes now,” Greene asserted. “We’re going to bring back peace and prosperity, end these foreign wars, stop the climate agenda scam, and restore faith in the justice system.”
Bannon concluded the segment by praising Greene’s leadership and reaffirming their shared mission moving forward. “The fight’s just beginning,” he said. “The deep state doesn’t go down quietly. But tonight shows the people are awake. And we’re coming for those who betrayed them.”
As the political winds shift with Trump’s resurgence, figures like Bannon and Greene appear poised to play central roles in reshaping the narrative around January 6 and restoring influence to the populist wing of the Republican Party. Whether their promises of accountability will materialize remains to be seen—but their intentions are unmistakably clear.
