“Files, Fallout, and a Fractured Circle: Inside Trump’s Epstein Backlash”
Trump Defends Pam Bondi, Urges Focus Away from Epstein in Fiery Social Media Post
In a lengthy and impassioned post on Truth Social this weekend, former President Donald Trump rallied to the defense of key figures in his administration, particularly Attorney General Pam Bondi, amid growing tension over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case.
Trump’s comments come on the heels of internal strife reportedly brewing within his team, with sources suggesting disagreements between Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy Director Dan Bongino over a recent Justice Department memo. That memo, which dismissed the existence of a so-called “Epstein client list” and reiterated that the case is closed, has stirred controversy both inside and outside Washington.
According to multiple reports, Bongino is said to have expressed strong opposition to the memo and even threatened to resign unless Bondi was removed from her post. Though Bongino has not made any public statements on the matter, both Patel and Bondi have affirmed they are staying on and continuing their work.
In his Saturday statement, Trump dismissed speculation and drama surrounding Epstein as a distraction, accusing his political enemies of resurrecting long-debunked narratives to sow division within the MAGA movement. He called the renewed focus on Epstein “a waste of time,” and urged his team to remain united behind the administration’s broader goals.
“What’s happening with my people?” Trump wrote. “Some are turning on Pam Bondi, who’s doing an incredible job as Attorney General. We’re supposed to be a team. I don’t like what I’m seeing—this division over a man who’s been dead for years. Epstein, Epstein, Epstein. It never ends. Why are we still giving attention to this?”
Trump went on to criticize the origin of the Epstein files, blaming what he called the “deep state” and holdovers from prior administrations for keeping the controversy alive. He named former President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and intelligence officials from past years as part of a coordinated effort to distract from real issues.
“They’ve recycled the same lies they used against me with Russia, with the fake Steele dossier, with 51 intelligence agents claiming the Hunter Biden laptop wasn’t real. Now they’re doing it again, using the Epstein mess as their latest weapon,” Trump claimed.
The former president questioned why, if there were truly damaging information in the Epstein documents, it wasn’t used earlier. “If there was anything in there that could hurt our movement, they would’ve released it by now,” he added. “Instead, they’ve turned it into a never-ending sideshow.”
Despite the swirling drama, Trump stood firmly behind Bondi, praising her for investigating what he believes to be the real threats to democracy: election fraud, political corruption, and illicit campaign finance activity. “Pam is focused on the stolen 2020 election, and she’s making great progress. Let her do her job,” he said.
He also acknowledged Kash Patel by name, reaffirming his confidence in the FBI Director. Notably absent from the post, however, was any mention of Bongino, leading some to speculate that tensions remain unresolved.
In a separate message later that day, Patel wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been. It’s an honor to serve the President, and I’ll continue doing so for as long as I’m needed.”
Trump ended his post by shifting attention back to the successes he believes his administration is achieving. He touted improvements in the economy, stronger border policies, and energy independence as proof that the current focus should remain on governing—not on the past.
“We’re about to do more in six months than any administration in the last hundred years,” he said. “America was on life support. Now we’re leading the world again. Let’s stay focused.”
He also issued a warning to his supporters not to get distracted by sensational stories. “The media wants us chasing ghosts while they quietly try to rig another election,” Trump wrote. “We’ve got bigger things to do. Let’s keep our eyes on the prize—Making America Great Again.”
As speculation continues and the public awaits more clarity on the Epstein files, Trump’s message was clear: internal division won’t be tolerated, and distractions from the administration’s goals won’t be entertained.
